Mandragora's Magical Learnatorium

Allied with...  the rejects, the outcast, the abandoned, the rule breakers, the curious
In Conflict with...  the color taupe and the notions of what's forbidden or allowed (this makes them less likely to get along with institutions such as Brahman Magisterum, The Wizard Colleges of Altalusia and Knights of Anatheaum)

Once upon a time, a long time ago. Before the yesterday of yesterdays! A young fae was exiled from the realm of the fae. The people of Khurun treated him with suspicion, as a stranger and an outcast. And though the years grew tall around him, no hearth truly opened. So he crafted his own...

Piece by piece, like a mason, he carved out dreams and glamour from stones. Filled lanterns with soft starfire. But the foundation of his house did not lay still, it strolled across valleys, oceans, and dunes like a curious beetle.

Along the winding roads, he began to find them... All these stray children.

Some were abandoned and some orphaned by unfortunate events. He saw in their eyes the same trembling dawn he once carried inside himself. He remembered cold nights when no one had spoken kindly to him. He remembered the loneliness, the confusion, and how close he had been to the loss of hope. So he decided to open the doors of his home to the lost children.

A home that came to you when you had none; Meander's Orphanage!

Children grew taller, braver, and brighter, and many of them one day stepped out into the world. But not all of them wished to go. Some children carried hurts and fears, deep claws in their hearts. They wished to remain with Meander, and the fae let them stay.View attachment 907

Once more, the house gave a great, delighted stretch. Meander rebuilt and rebuilt again, room by room, wonder by wonder. Towers and spires sprouted, and the wandering home could no longer pretend to be small! It had been remodeled into something grand and extraordinary: a castle!

And so the years tiptoed onward, as Time often do. The castle no longer held young orphans, but curious hearts of every age. This was the dawn of Meander's Magical Learnatorium!

The Learnatorium is a welcoming place for the peculiar, for daydreamers, stargazers, and moonlovers. For the too quiet and the too loud, the delightfully crooked and strange. For those who applied to other magical academies only to be rejected. Those who were told they did not fit in, did not pass the trials, or could not afford the admission fees.

The Learnatorium welcomes them all!

  • Founder: Meander Mandragora
  • Current Headmaster: Eramidas Aïa
  • School motto: “Learning is not not a cage”
  • Known as: The Learnatorium, The Vanishing Castle, Ivy Halls, The Hollow in The Ferns

The Learnatorium’s name soured quickly on the tongues of the reputable academics and scholars. They say the Learnatorium teaches too much. That students stray into the darker arts, the ones you are supposed to pretend do not exist. And they are right... The Fae does not draw the same lines that others do and a school founded by fae does not behave like the other academies.

Let the other academies clutch their pearls! Meander believed knowledge should stretch and sprawl like wild ivy. The library is filled with the banned books, forbidden texts, cursed tomes, and rejected pamphlets. Nothing is forbidden, nothing is locked in restricted bookshelves or sealed away to be forgotten in archives. But above all, no one is dismissed at the gates of the Learnatorium.

Learning is not a cage.
