Brotherhood of Bastards

“Fuck you! Fuck you bloody bastards!”

Five bastard sons needed to survive in the city called Veya, found in one of the smaller free states. With no food, no shelter, and no family name, they came to the conclusion that they would work together in order to live. They became thieves, then they became threats. Taking coin from the clutches of the rich often proved dangerous, and so they learned how to trick and steal without harming nary a hair on themselves.

Three of those brothers were weavers and the other two were just as valuable to the family.

One brother saw the past play over and over in one place, making it easy to listen to conversations of old and gleaned information that way. Not useful to anyone but the brothers, but he was paraded around the moment he was tricked into indenture. Only a brother knew where he would be, only a brother could be responsible for betraying him and sentenced to a life indentured.

Another brother mimicked voices and sounds, a menace to all. His mischief kept the boys laughing and the rich wanting his tongue cut.

The third brother weaved illusions. It was the secret of the Brotherhood. He was valuable, but no one wanted a life spent contracted to a House of riches.

The fourth brother had no shroud given talent of weaving, but his hands knew how to work. Mending, sculpting, forging, cleaning. He pursued jobs that brought them a small income every week, and tried to keep out of the trouble the other brothers danced with.

The fifth brother was young, idolising the older bastards and strived to be just like them.

Over the years, the Brotherhood of Bastards grew. Not just brothers, but sisters sought safety in their numbers. The Brotherhood did not change their name, not when it turned into a promise. Stick with us, and you will be protected. If you stab a brother in the back, figuratively or physically, then you have no place with the bastards of Veya.

The smart Veyan families began to pay the Brotherhood a small fee, in exchange for no trouble and anonymity of this exchange. It helped keep every belly full, and helped them afford medicine when needed. It meant the Bastards were here to stay.

The Brotherhood became known to the Veyans as an infestation. They were called rats, a plague, all in hopes to discredit them. Words and insults wouldn’t hurt them. After all, bastards were made from the sins and betrayals of the rich.

“Spill the blood of your brothers and you’re fucked.”

Putting this wanted out there for anyone that is interested in writing a character with a chip on their shoulder!

Whether you wish to write an original bastard brother, (one being my sad boi Duscan, and the fifth brother Tap's character) or a bastard under the protection of the Brotherhood.

Or perhaps you want a character that can shroudweave and are indentured to a rich House in the city of Veya. Maybe you want to write one of those rich characters!

Those indentured to a House are mainly Shroudweavers. They are collected like art pieces in a gallery, and live a life of luxury and comfort in exchange for protecting and bolstering a family's renown. To indicate they are indentured, they are given marks (you can choose what and where).

Let's get plotting friends <3
