Captain Fan the Fierce
Age 43
Gender Woman
Origin Kharsaga
Occupation Privateer Captain
"AND WHY DIN'T YOU GO CHOKE ON YER OWN FUCKIN' PISS!"
To be acquainted with the woman known colloquially as Fan*, was to weather the spirit of the sea itself. One moment she may be having a lovely little cup of tea at a cafe in Kharsaga's core, chatting away and nibbling on a mulberry scone, only to overhear someone at the next table shit talking her deckhand's older brother. In the following moment, the aforementioned tea has stained the fine silk blouse of the gossiping woman running for her life down the basalt-paved streets. Clear sky to squall, the open ocean has it all.
Like many a sailor, the woman is what one could consider... minimally socialized. The rough-shod bonds of a ship's crew, where brusque confrontation lead swiftly to reconciliation, are far different than the complex politics and expectations of city life. Even when that city is Kharsaga, social niceties reign. Which is why, for the most part, Fanariel is found within the reaches of Mother's Embrace when docked. Unless, that is, she is summoned to meet with the Admiralty Board for one mistake or another, or invited to a VERY good meal or party.
What the young Captain lacks in social graces, however, she makes up in with bravery, luck, and ruthless determination. All things that have lead to some fair moments of stunning success, and quite a few hard lessons. From stow-away to scullery maid to crows' nest and beyond, her brutal demeanor and amicable personality won her positions on nearly any crew she was interested in. It is her feats as a privateer however that have won her a reputation across Khurun, and brought her happily across its many waterways, reluctantly across its landscapes, and enthusiastically into attractive denizen's beds.
*(or Fanny if you're nasty).
Appearance
Height 5'4"
Build Curvaceous
Hair Corvid-black and wavy.
Eyes Eye. Single. The color of the wine-dark sea.
Fan, like most life-long sailors, is an unrefined beauty. Beleaguered by salt, sea, and sun she is fortunate to still have the beauty of youth which will be sure to wear away one day. She is also fortunate to still have a remaining eye, although that story is one for another day.
Her skin is the colour of fine copper, a result of her lifetime in the blistering sun; taut and blemish free, it radiates her health and personal vigor. Underneath it, sinewy muscles can be seen working if times have been rough and food scare. However, it doesn’t detract from her picturesque frame, with flaring hips and a full ample bosom. She has the muscles of any true sailor, but not the frame of one, and has worked hard to overcome the slight bulkiness of her hourglass figure.
Her hair is long and thick, with curls and spirals near the bottom. Throughout she has a small sections of braids upon which she keeps trinkets and good goodluck charms. It is a blue-black, and depending on if she has had the opportunity to wash it recently in something other than salt water, rather shiny. Most of the time it frames her sharp-featured face, with its elegant nose, full lips the colour of desert roses, and sculpted jaw.
To account for her height, her customary heeled boots bring her into the rang of an average human woman. She is customarily adorned in one of her Captain’s Jackets, most often in a royal purple, with the lace. Regardless of the jacket, she has a matching patch to cover her empty-eye socket. She finds delight in dressing the part of a successful pirate captain, even if she has to get the majority of her clothing hemmed and tailored.

Personality
Primarily, Fanariel is a bawdry individual. Never afraid to pick a fight, or jump into one, the woman has an uncanny knack for finding, and destroying, trouble. She enjoys the thrills of her life of piracy. Her first love has and always will be the sea, and thus she doesn't enjoy spending too much time on land, preferring the life upon the roiling deck of her ship. With some time running about on Airships, she has also grown fond of the sky, but its emotional quality will never match the Sea and its eternal mystery. She enjoys drinking, and dancing.
She absolutely loves doing both at once, on top of a bar counter, kicking mugs and bottles into the faces of other occupants, usually resulting in her first mate having to take her back to her cabin forcefully.
Her loyalty to her crew is unyielding, and her loyalty to Naval Doctrine is also uneering, despite often having gaffs with the Admiralty Board.
She is known for her compassion for her friends, and for her malice toward all enemies. Her grudges are famous, once almost resulting in her death, as she did not take the hand of someone who had spit on her shoe as she fell overboard, and another time she sabotaged another ship so that it sunk in the port over a lost game of cards. Nothing in life is trivial to her, all adds up into the sum of your experience.
Fan does have more gentle qualities to her. For starters, she has a love of all animals, even the rats that live on her boat (which she has caught, named, and given small collars to). She doesn't eat meat because of her love of animals, not even fish, and tries to discourage her crew from doing so as well (usually unsuccessfully). She also is nice to children, but has not really had all that many opportunities to be around them.
