The Hungry Eight are eight shamans bound to the cursed Raakgui known as Honzui, an ancient hunger spirit said to dwell in still water, deep wells and empty parts of the soul. Born from the First Duties of the Ash Clan, they were created not to worship Honzui, but to contain it. Feeding it just enough to keep it from breaking free in rage.

Each of the Eight embodies a facet of Honzui's hunger. Their presence is feared, their name spoken in whispers, and their exact purpose misunderstood by nearly all.

Common Knowledge​

To the world, the Hungry Eight are nothing more than living curses.

Feared and pitied in equal measure.

There are many who believe them to be avatars of gluttony – „The hungry ate“, as the old Sonshan curse goes. In truth, each member carries a unique hunger. One that must be fed not with food, but action, belief and sacrifice.

Each facet shapes its host, distorting their desires. Together, the Eight maintain the spiritual balance to keep Honzui bound.

Kuuga's Heresy​

One of the current Eight, Kuuga was meant to replace a much older member. Instead, she has developed a Honzui boon of her own and what seems to foretell the coming of a ninth aspect of hunger – Hunger for the Divine. A new hunger emerging and breaking the official cycle.

Others are split on whether this Hunger is a valid part of the creature and a natural evolution, or if it's a corruption.

Ash Clan's Role​

The Hungry Eight were formed by the Ash Clan, descended from the First Shaman, who carry the sacred burden of the First Duties. It is their purpose to guard against the cursed Raakgui. The Eight are part of this proud tradition. Due to the nature of their affliction, they are treated as spiritually dangerous outcasts within the Clan. They are necessary. Honored. Avoided.
