Lore Writing Contest

One of our main goals on Shroudweavers is to be a place where people feel comfortable expressing themselves. We can do this, yes, by being open and respectful in our OOC spaces - but we should also not be shy about engaging with things like identity in our writing.

That's why for Pride Month, we'll be hosting a writing contest with a focus on queer worldbuilding. To participate, players can write a new lore piece in any codex category that features queer characters, themes, or otherwise imagines a setting outside of the heteronormative paradigm.

What are you even talking about, bees?

"Queer worldbuilding is not the same thing as building worlds that feature queer stories or communities, though such worlds themselves have immense value. Instead, queer worldbuilding describes the practice of constructing new worlds through methods, frameworks, and tools that can themselves be understood as queer."

I dunno man, its speculative fiction... so speculate! What do marriage ceremonies look like in the Altalusian Basin? Do Devahni have different gender roles than humans? Is there a pair of gay gods in the pantheon you've been brainstorming? What's the most exclusive cabaret spot in the Free States? This is our shared world, so let's make it for all of us.

There are no "right" answers to this prompt and so there will be no selected winners. Everyone who participates will receive an Event Egg (yes it is rainbow). Ways to participate include:
  1. create and submit a codex entry during the month of June that fits the theme
  2. publicly glow up somebody else's entry (either via the forums or discord)
  3. start a new thread based on an existing or newly submitted lore piece
Before submitting any new entries, just remember to read our Lore Submission Guidelines. The deadline for submissions is June 30th!
