"She's a good kid, but she was still born a sinner."
There once was a couple that had suffered greatly, feeling as if their very life was forsaken. The wife's womb was poisoned, any child unable to survive it. The husband had been beaten, losing a hand and his eyesight, unable to work or provide. Their village had been destroyed, every home destroyed by the sea. They saw their friends and family struggle and starve like they did, every day worse than yesterday. It was fate when they were taken in by a small parish who fed and clothed them, only asking them to participate in mass in return. A Priest offered to take them with him on his journey across Ilica, stopping at many small towns to deliver aid and teach others of the truth of the Mother. The couple soon became devout followers, and with a miracle from the Mother, the wife became pregnant.
This time, she had the Mother watching over her. She prayed to all the Saints, to the Daughters, to the Mother. Carrying her child to full term, only to discover after a day of labor that she had given birth to twin girls. She named them, but it was for naught.
The priest told the couple what must be done. Twins were aberrations of the Mother, each half a soul, and only through the Mother could they become whole. The twin girls were “offered” to the Church. The Archdiocese forgave the couple's sins, promising them entry to the afterlife within the Mother's warm embrace. It was what the Mother wanted after all, twins would always belong to the Caliginous Church. Growing up in the Citadel of Ash, the sisters were given new names and an education unlike any other. Solitude was not the prodigy that her sister was.
So when it came time to become whole, it was quite the surprise that Solitude was the one who came out alive. Her sister became a part of her shadow, and Sol made a pact with a sassy shadow-fox named Celosia.
Appearance
Height 5'8
Build Lean athlete build
Hair Black
Eyes Red
Sol has a lean and athletic physique because of years of grueling training. Scars would normally cover over her entire body, but as the archdiocese understands that being an assassin means one’s body is important. Therefore, Sol is free of blemishes of any sort, even if it means she needs to be healed often after missions. Long black hair the color of a starless night and pigeon blood ruby eyes to show that while she looks human, she isn’t.
Wearing masks is part of the trade, as is the black leather and form-fitting clothing. Sol usually has throwing knives and a short sword on her back. While she doesn't wear much armor, she always protects her calves and knees with some extra padding because she's prone to falling.
Personality
Lazy, uninspired, and an idiot are some ways that Priests of the Church like to describe Solitude. She’s a nuisance, whether it’s with her attitude or the fact that she seems to never think when it comes to her missions. Rambunctious and quick to roll her eyes, her only good trait is that she seems to not get engulfed with shadow sickness or bloodlust, but plenty of other assassins seemed immune to it before, and look where they ended up?
Skills
As an assassin, Solitude possesses a variety of skills. Other than being able to read and write, she has many skills that help her survival in the wild or out at sea. Competent in horse riding and using weapons while on horseback. Excels the most in subterfuge and shadow working. Adept at alchemy and creating potions to make her jobs easier. A master of stealth and hiding. Is quite horrible with blood magic, and the idea of magic. Luck is always on her side when she needs it most, but the other 99% of the time, Sol is quite unlucky.
Her shadow is darker than the average human because it houses her shadowkin and her sister, since her soul is tethered to both. Sol’s shadowkin is a fox, and if her sister does ever make an appearance, it is in a terrifying form of a monster with big teeth and even bigger claws.
