Profile

Ione Maelgwn

Age  30
Gender  Female
Origin  North Altalusia
Occupation  Knight Pursuant of Loch

Daughter of a Lord's captain of the guard, the Maelgwns have had a long history of pledging their loyalties to this Altalusian region. Her mother had been a weaver of low magic and barely spoke of her family before her sickness took her life. Her father was left to raise Ione all on his own, and there was no other way than to teach her all he knew.

Since the moment she could hold something, Ione was taught many disciplines of weaponry. For years, many of those serving the guard believed she would do well one day to take over her father's Captain duties, even receiving the favour of the Lord they all served. It was not until she was in her fifteenth summer did the shroud called her to weave. Her mother's abilities had taken to her after all, and in a stronger manner. The call changed her. It affected her daily life, but she was never taught how to respond. Being her father's daughter, she would take to throwing her all into training, but the shroud began to scream.

It was one night that her anger flared, brought on by the constant pull and deafening roar, that Ione brandished a knife she had no way of acquiring. She had simply wanted a blade to wield, and if it had not been for such an open attack that her sparring partner could easily deflect, Ione could have killed someone.

At sixteen, the Lord offered to pay for her to make travel for Astenvale, to the Monastery where the Knights of Anathaeum could help her in honing her weaving's call. As a squire, she favoured in learning all she could in the Pursuit of Loch, for it brought her peace like no other. She spent years finding the spaces of tranquility in her mind, of learning how to calm the waters of her mind free from the disturbance of ripples. Her ability to summon comes from the art of manifestation. An image in her mind could come to fruition, and the more detail she has of this, the better quality her recreations.

At present, Syr Ione Maelgwn has achieved the rank of Knight Pursuant of Loch.

Appearance

Height  5'7
Build  Strong
Hair  Copper
Eyes  Blue

With copper hair that could rival a setting sun, and eyes as blue as a clear sky, Ione had a noble lady's appearance, but the muscles honed over the years give way to her true calling.

When weaving, the air around her takes on a translucent wisp of air moments before taking form of whatever she chooses to summon. Despite trying her to conceal the tell of her shroudweaving, Ione is unable to cloak her intentions.

Personality

"You would have done well in the Sanctum of Dawn..."

Raised with blades and reason, Ione learned how one should conduct with authority and to do so diplomatically. She learned to be fair, to support those that stand beside her in battle. Whereas her future intentions no longer align with replacing her father as Captain, nor to leave the Order, Ione chose a path that was not the easier path.

Her dedication to Loch was to find inner peace, to silence the call to weave by learning how to control it. It is seen as an affliction, due to the madness of power that plagues the weavers in her mother's family, and the lack of cure for this only drove her to become a master at being still.

Although she is the most out going and thrives being surrounded by peers, Ione's energy wells sap the fastest and often has her seeking solitude. With the appearance of befriending all, she cannot recall whom she's know best in turn. In an attempt to not hurt anyone's feelings, Ione would take time to retreat elsewhere to seek solitude. The forests and the sea are her favourite places of quiet.

Skills

Her mastery of various weapons are her main pride, for it took a near village to teach her such a wide range. Ione is most comfortable with a longsword, but can be a mean opponent when given a dagger and hand-to-hand combat.

Her Pursuits are all exceeding expectations, and is very well versed in the Pursuit of Life after she needed something else to focus on when her studies for Loch wore her out too much. Now a Knight Pursuant of Loch, she passes on her own knowledge and understanding to squires that have the most difficulty with the Pursuit and is patient with their progress should they continue to learn.
