Tehi, Selkie Healer
Age 24
Gender Female
Origin Clein Ysbal
Occupation Clein Seeker, Healer
Tehi was born in Clein Ysbal, a selkie clein (or tribe) that make their home somewhere off the eastern coast of the Kingdom of Altalusia. She was raised communally as all selkie pups are. When she was young, she discovered she had a gift for working with the water, and learned from the moon and the tides how to push and pull the waves. There are three main paths in life for a young selkie; that of the warrior, that of the storyteller, and that of the healer. Tehi pursued the latter.
Her mother taught her much, for she was also a skilled healer within the clein. While Tehi became knowledgable though, she also had a curiosity for the lands beyond the shore on which her clein lived. Her people disapproved. Selkies are an isolated people, made so by the theft of their pelts by land-dwellers in times they were not so secretive. Tehi's lack of subtlety and naive wandering away from the coast got her in trouble more than once with her clein's elders. She, however, never gave up on her yearning. With her gifts for controlling the forces of nature, she didn't want to be limited in her skill, and the life of the land called to her just as much as the sea.
She was finally presented with her opportunity to see the world. One day, her clein's elder informed her that they had a special cause for her to pursue: finding the lost Pelt of Ysbal, the selkie for whom their clein was named. Their stories said that she was once one selkie whose pelt was stolen and she was taken as a wife by a land-dweller. Eventually she died, and her pelt was never found. The elders wanted Tehi to find it and return it to the clein so that it may be returned to the sea, that Ysbal would finally have her pelt back in the afterlife.
What they didn't tell her was that they knew it wasn't real. Selkies slowly turn to seafoam when they die, as do their pelts. No selkie has ever seen whether a pelt separated from its body melts away as such, but there was no reason for the elders to think anything otherwise.
None the wiser, Tehi has set out on her doomed mission with one goal: find the Pelt of Ysbal, and don't die in the process.
Appearance
Height 6'0"
Build A bit chubby, with appealing curves.
Hair Dark grey
Eyes Rich brown
Tehi is perhaps rather strange-looking to any who have yet to encounter a selkie. She is tall, and along with her weight on her torso, her body build is not unlike the grey seal, the species of seal that she "mimics". Across much of her body, her skin is pale, but this is interrupted by splotches of dark grey, and nearer to her extremities, this patterning transitions into a solid grey colour. Her hair hangs straight and long down to her chest. She always carries her seal pelt with her; a full-body sealskin, with patterning identical to those on her humanoid body, which she may don and use to shift her body into its phocid form.
Selkies are often said to be beautiful, much like mermaids, so much so that people have been compelled to steal their pelts to take them as wives. Tehi is no different. While she carries some insulating weight, it sits on her hips and other places that give her some elegant curves. Her large, deep brown eyes look at everything like it's a wonder.

Personality
Tehi is a curious young woman, longing to know more about the world of the land dwellers. She's rather naïve, however, particularly about the ways of the people found there; danger abounds on land and she is unaware of much of it. Her inquisitive nature is often at odds with this apprehension of the people she finds, and due to her upbringing she doesn't know much about land-dwellers. She is, as a result, suspicious of most she meets and cautious of how she acts around them, like a spooked animal.
She balances her caring nature with a righteous temper not unlike nature's wrath. She'll help those who are innocent, but those who try to take advantage of her, harm others, or worst of all abuse or poison the wilds will feel the full force of her power. She loves the simple pleasures in life; fresh fish, the feeling of grass on her feet, warm basking weather, and interesting creatures. Tiring land-dweller customs, dull days and loud hustle and bustle she isn't quite so fond of.

Skills
From her training amongst her people as a healer, Tehi is a skilled medicinewoman. She knows many a remedy for common ailments and can care for the wounded well. She grew up able to access the gifts of a Shroudweaver. While her people call it something different, she practised her affinity for the waters and the wilds, learning to push and pull the waves like the moon and begin to incorporate magic into her healing. She is capable of basic hydromancy, able to move, heat or cool small quantities of water, and basic healing magic, allowing her to heal small cuts and grazes.
Her people are also strong warriors. Most, if not all selkies understand some form of combat. Tehi is skilled wielding a staff.
If she dons her seal pelt, she can transform into her seal form.
