Baku the Brass Sage
| Occupation A Scholar of the Suma |

Appearance
Baku is tall with ebon skin. He is most often seen in flowing robes the color of white, brown, and gold. In the style of a member of the Miradi upperclass, Baku adorns jewelry. The teeth of small wild dragons set in gold hand from his ears. Braces adorned with jewels and Suldazan crystals that tick with quiet machinery. In the center of his chest beneath his adornments is the Kalbi 'Zara (Heart of Brass), a magical pacemaker that keeps his heart beating and pulses with blue energy.
Personality
Baku is a man of simple loyalties. The Suma who took him in and helped him gain a better understanding of the universe around him and to his Mansa, Nebu the Prophet, who is to be honored as King as a King of his people and thus a King Among Kings. He is ever curious, forever asking questions to push himself and to be a credit to the world and his people. Baku honors the gods and takes their lessons to heart, perhaps even the ones that asks the Miradi to make the hard decisions. Aja're teaches one to love the world and honor the gods, Nuzuri teaches one to explore the cosmos of their mind to make wonders and Takoumba, the Black Spider Who Whispers is a reminder that one's base nature is sometimes necessary to survive the darkest of times.
The Brass Sage is ever dutiful, ever tinkering and ever pondering some new design. He is certain his ancestors speak to him. In quiet moments in the beneath the Spire of Winds, they speak numbers and designs that he tries to make sense of and make reality. He thinks on the Dilemma, elusive and vast. How can one render the spiritual into a physical plane? How can one put body to voice?
Skills
Baku is masterful in the Miradan art of infusing crystals found in the Kaikias Desert with weapons and machinery. His expertise lies in creating weaponry that produces both magical and physical force. The process of attuning magic crystals to weaponry is delicate and requires immense precision, something that Baku has mastered under the scrutinous and watchful eyes of the Suma Scholars that helped shape him. The addition of the Kalbi 'Zara in his chest has had a profound effect on his ability to craft magical technology. His psyche is often flooded with mathematical equations and schematics that have vastly improved the quality of magnitude of his work, though there is much he still doesn't understand...
Even before the inclusion of his magical pacemaker, Baku had deep knowledge of metals and how to shape them, especially brass. As such, he excels in forging durable, flexible alloys that are easily enchanted. His craftsmanship goes beyond shaping weapons—he enhances them with enchantments that can manipulate energy, light, or gravity.
