With a Primus Khashatrii for a mother and a member of the Magistus Imperatis for a father, is it any wonder that the likes of Faine would be brought into existence?

The bastard halfbreed’s parents are no longer on speaking terms. Instead, they prefer to send catty missives in lieu of proper conversation, and only when their offspring is involved. Otherwise, the two could not be more indifferent, their individual ambitions ravenous enough to eat up entire days at a time, leaving little for even the afterthought of familial bonds.

Faine learned to be self sufficient early on. They were born with the right disposition for it, many would later note, having come straight out of the womb with wide open, serious eyes and a distinct lack of whimsy children usually possessed. If the negligence from their parents bothered them, Faine never showed it. They would simply leave the room and lose themselves in a task, should arguments become too heated. This was, of course, in the early days, when their dysfunctional little family still lived under one roof. Faine actually found it a relief that they had all gone their separate ways. They did not miss the distraction of constant bickering, nor the intensely passionate attempts to make amends afterwards.

Having always been defiantly willful, Faine endeavors not to follow in either of their parents’ footsteps. They resist at every turn, to the point of constant contention. The irony, of course, is lost on no one, considering where they inevitably end up.

Appearance

Height  5’10”
Build  Lean
Hair  Black
Eyes  Amber

Faine is a creature of averages and ambiguities. Medium build, medium height, dark of hair and murky of eye in all but the brightest of lighting. Forgettable when they want to be, formidable when they don’t. In training, they were often praised as the perfect blank canvas. So comfortably in the middle of everything that a simple wig, touch of cosmetics, or change in posture could transform them entirely. And comfortably in the middle Faine must remain, if they are to survive.

In keeping with tradition, Faine has learned all of the skills useful to an imperial spy, and consequently stays in good shape, their muscles deceivingly lean beneath loose, well tailored clothing. Their wardrobe consists of mostly dark colors like black, grey, and navy. Perhaps the occasional indigo, if they’re feeling particularly festive.

As a halfbreed, Faine goes through great pains to downplay their mixed heritage. They were fortunate enough to take mostly after their father, human to all but the most discerning eyes. A minor miracle that they have no tail to hide, but their hands stay gloved and modest horns filed regularly, the nubs hidden under waves of dark hair kept strategically chin length.

It is unclear whether Faine has a beast form or not.

Personality

Somber, practical, observant, underhanded—Faine is an imperial tool, and as such has been honed to a razor’s edge, their deadliness sheathed in the soft suede of diplomacy and political theater. They are employed as a weapon of the aristocracy, but at their core they are a survivor and will become whatever they need to be to get the job done.

Having trained in all things subtle, one rarely catches Faine being anything less than composed. But should their ire somehow be stoked, there might be the flash of a sharp eyed glare, or perhaps a barbed insult disguised as a compliment.

Otherwise, the spy-in-making is reticent by default, revealing nothing without gain. They are also rather stony, showing no overt interest or emotion, unless their curiosity is genuinely piqued.

Faine’s one indulgence lies in nature. Plant life, to be exact, including but not limited to exotic flora from all over the world, as well as local specimens with more useful, everyday applications. These can extend to medicines, hallucinogens, and culinary enhancements.

Oh, and poisons.

Skills

Politics (espionage, diplomacy, interrogation), knives, grappling, acrobatics, horticulture/botany
