Lantern Flower

marigold.webpThis delicate glass lantern emits a warm golden light, even though it is cold to the touch and lightly dewed over with condensation. Inside, in place of a fire, rests a Cempaxochitl flower. The flower looks as fresh as the day it was picked, and its golden petals glow with buttery luminescence.

Mechanism
Plucking a petal from the marigold and laying it atop a corpse summons the deceased's spirit for a few minutes. The spirit can hear and speak to the living, but cannot interact with the physical world. If the corpse used to summon the spirit is incomplete or parts of it destroyed, the connection will be weaker and the spirit more difficult to commune with.
