Count Lestat til Leoncoeur rules over Lion's Rock, a castle carved out of a colossal stone hill at the foot of the Mheara Mountains, where Altalusia’s southernmost river begins. From this commanding height, the Leoncoeurs control the vital mountain passes and the river’s source, making their seat both a fortress and a gateway. The surrounding lands are steep, mineral-rich, and difficult to invade.
House Leoncoeur is one of the oldest noble families in the region. Known for its various mineral-rich mines, ale and cheese production, seasoned troops, and unyielding pride, the house has long held influence over western Altalusia. Their banner—a golden winged lion on blue—symbolizes both wealth and strength, and is a familiar sight on every road, ship, and garrison under their protection. Their word is law in the highlands, and their name carries weight at court.
Lestat was raised from birth to inherit this legacy. His education focused on warfare, command, diplomacy, and the rare but dangerous art of fire magic, which runs through certain lines of the Leoncoeur blood. He showed promise early. At fifteen, he won his first duel. At twenty-one, he led a cavalry company in a border campaign. He earned a reputation for being brave, decisive, and occasionally reckless—traits admired as much as they were cautioned against.
When his father, Count Reynard Leoncoeur, died in an accident, Lestat was twenty-seven. His ascension was swift and uncontested. Since then, his reign has been marked by stability at home, and a clear message to rivals: House Leoncoeur remains strong.

His control over heat allows him to subtly shift the temperature in his surroundings or ignite flame without a physical spark. He can also draw on existing fire to mend minor wounds or revitalize his strength, though this form of healing is limited and taxing. Finally, through both bloodline resistance and training, Lestat is immune to natural fire and resistant to magical flames, giving him an edge in dangerous environments where others would falter.
As always, casting fire magic comes at a cost. Drawing upon the Shroud to weave spells affects both Lestat and the world around him. The first source he taps into is his own body. Physical strength, stamina, and willpower fuel the act of weaving. If Lestat pushes himself to his limit, he risks exhaustion or injury.
