Never had Duscan thought that he would be in the shithouse. Of course, he has, but not with a lady he had taken a fancy to. Perhaps it was ill-fated from the start, that he was the muse and she the artist. Was this her gentle way of letting him down softly? That he no longer amused and entertained her, that he no longer gave inspiration?

He made one mistake, wasted her time despite the letter of apology trying to find her but it seemed it never did or she ignored it.

"Need a rag to clean your face?"

Duscan lifted his head, his wavy hair unbound and had now taken to falling into his face. He had some leather to tie it back but that broke a week ago, and since then he had felt too in a mood to tend to his needs. He needed a shave, a little trim of his hair to tame it's shoulder length locks, and he needed a desperate fucking drink.

He wiped a hand down his face, showing the barkeep that this was not dirt on his face, but marks that would remain. A reminder. A cost.

"Just... your finest whisky. On the rocks, please." He frowned, looking at the coins in hand and placing the loose change he had onto the surprisingly clean and not sticky bar top. Duscan had over paid, and as the change was being handed to him, Duscan waved it off. He did not want to struggle with his arithmetic and coins in front of others. Not when he was struggling with himself enough. Once the drink was slid towards him, the Bastard let out a deep sigh. "Hey mate... mind telling me where I am?"

He had gone where the coin and airships had taken him.

"Astenvale." The young man chuckled. "You only had two drinks, you can't be pissed yet unless you cannot handle your drink."

"Nah... I..." Duscan gave a laugh, bordering on something self depracating until it died off. "I am wandering aimlessly. Never got to travel much before, but I did to chase a lovely woman." There. It had turned bittersweet, but the Bastard with ashen tears forever stained there on his face did not speak any more. He downed his drink. "Fuck. I mean, shit. No. Ah... fuck it." He winced but the barkeep was already pouring him a new drink, over the ice that still had not lost it's volume.

"Thanks mate... just... leave the bottle. Might do me some good to finally wallow some more." Duscan placed down the larger coins that stuck to his palm, his hand shaking to loosen them. He over paid again, but this time he took the change given to him.
