Palgris

palgris.webp
Palgris can be herd creatures, their fluffy coat is similar to that of a sheep in that it can be shaved and the fur turned into thread for weaving. Even in herds, Palgris can be temperamental tossing about farm hands if they aren't careful. To help combat this, farms will often use a specific smelling "perfume" unique at each farm that farm hands will wear in order to help the Palgris recognize them and not attack. Of course this isn't always helpful.

Smallfolk, such as beast-kin and other diminutive peoples, will tame a Palgris both as a companion and as protection for their travels. Palgris are hearty creatures that can carry large weights, their warm fur is nice to sleep against on cold nights, and because of their temperament with others they make great guards on lonely roads. It's best to be careful around a merchant with a Palgris as a pack creature.

Biology

Palgris resemble a boar in many aspects, but they tend to be much larger than your average boar. They can range from the size of a dog to the size of a donkey. They have terrible temperament unless trained to recognize specific people and even then they can still have bad tempers.

The creatures are most commonly found around Ilica. Wild herds are larger in the northern part of the continent, but they are still common enough in the south. This is due to the species being wildly eaten in the Arshakan Empire, where as the populations of the north tend to attempt to domesticate the beasts for their fur.

Palgris's diet consists largely of plants and can easily be left to graze. Larger farms will feed with various grain blends. Though the creatures love to have fruits included in their meals. Sometimes offering some fresh fruit to an angry Palgris will be enough to calm it.
