Cerridwen Castille
Age 33
Gender Female
Origin Devahni/Arshakan Empire
Occupation Fantastical Creature Naturalist & Expedition Consultant
Once a Professor of archeology and natural anthropology at the elite Brahman Magisterium,
Cerridwen Castille left the position after a long-standing conflict with the Dean of the department. While the university prided itself on uncovering ancient relics and historical knowledge, Cerridwen's passionate dedication to the preservation and ethical treatment of magical creatures and artifacts clashed with the dean’s more utilitarian approach. She argued fiercely that the faculty's increasing focus on profit, prestige, and expeditions for political gain was stripping historical findings of their cultural integrity.
Her breaking point came when the university, under the dean’s direction, planned a high-profile expedition to capture and study a rare magical beast—one that Cerridwen believed should be left undisturbed in its natural environment. In protest, she publicly opposed the decision, rallying students and junior faculty to her cause. This rebellion embarrassed the dean and damaged the university's reputation.
Unable to compromise her values and feeling that the Magisterium had lost its scholarly purpose, Cerridwen was forced to resign. Now, she seeks freedom outside the restrictive halls of academia, driven to conduct her research on her own terms and protect the creatures and history she loves.
Because of this, she as known as The Warden amongst academic circles where her name is spoken.
Now she acts as an independent contractor within an expedition guild in the Free States, who hires her out to the highest bidder for the social elite's more philanthropic and academic missions.
And due to the fact, that teachers don't make good money, she didn't have enough saved to explore on her own coin.
So she's only a part of the guild because they fund her expeditions. But her dream is to make it big or find a wealthy enough individual sponsor that they'll invest in her research and she can finally dedicate her time to exploring and studying her real passions under her own flags of academic morality and conservation.

Skills
*Shroud Sense - Creature Attunement
Cerridwen can attune herself to the Shroud signatures of different creatures, allowing her to sense their presence even if they're hidden or camouflaged. This ability helps her track and study magical beasts in their natural habitat, picking up on faint traces of the Shroud left behind by their unique physiology.
*Primordial Form – Beast Empathy
When she transforms into her Devahni beast form, Cerridwen's connection to other creatures deepens. While in this form, she can communicate with or influence nearby magical creatures, calming them or drawing them closer for observation.
*Shroud Enclosure
Cerridwen can create a temporary enclosure or protective field using the Shroud. This spell allows her to trap or study a creature without harming it, or provide shelter for herself and her companions during dangerous expeditions.
*Ancient Lore Mastery
Given her history background, Cerridwen can use the Shroud to decipher and read ancient languages, magical scripts, and old practices. She can also use this to decipher ancient ruins, study old texts, or activate ancient mechanisms that others would overlook. The more ancient/lost/complex an artifact or lore or language IS, the more shroud and time it takes to break it down for her.
*Artifact Weaver
Cerridwen’s expertise with archaeological artifacts allows her to channel the Shroud through ancient objects, temporarily reactivating their old magic. She might use old tools or weapons from ancient civilizations to cast powerful spells.
*Beast Bonds - Shroud Familiars
Over time, Cerridwen has developed strong bonds with certain magical creatures she’s studied. These creatures, tied to her through the Shroud, can aid her during explorations. Some might serve as scouts, others as protectors, and some might even provide her with unique knowledge or powers in dangerous situations.
