Slyvia Plath
In the dour ages
Of drafty cells and draftier castles,
Of dragons breathing without the frame of fables,
Saint and king unfisted obstruction's knuckles
By no miracle or majestic means,

But by such abuses
As smack of spite and the overscrupulous
Twisting of thumbscrews: one soul tied in sinews,
One white horse drowned, and all the unconquered pinnacles
Of God's city and Babylon's

Must wait, while here Suso's
Hand hones his tack and needles,
Scouraging to sores his own red sluices
For the relish of heaven, relentless, dousing with prickles
Of horsehair and lice his horny loins;
While there irate Cyrus
Squanders a summer and the brawn of his heroes
To rebuke the horse-swallowing River Gyndes:
He split it into three hundred and sixty trickles
A girl could wade without wetting her shins.

Still, latter-day sages,
Smiling at this behavior, subjugating their enemies
Neatly, nicely, by disbelief or bridges,
Never grip, as the grandsires did, that devil who chuckles
From grain of the marrow and the river-bed grains.

Her father was a traveling butcher, her mother an outcast from Lapvona with no silver to her name. Rinrose wasn't sure if the love they had was true or necessary, but it brought forth three children, with Rinrose the youngest and the luckiest. Her older sister was smart but content to stay still; her older brother, the middle child, was vigorous but reckless in his adventures. Her sister went blind, and her brother died while climbing down a cliff. It was Rinrose who learned the skills of a knife from her father, the intricacies of flesh and bone, which gave her a steady hand, an impassive face, and a piece of wisdom that many warriors never learned. It was Rinrose who became her mother's protege in the art of battle and the viciousness of survival, learning to be tactful, the importance of timing, and how to control the flow of fighting even when all her senses were bombarded.

A butcher and a northern outcast were successful in their goal of creating a future swordmaster. [this will be finished at a later time.]

Appearance

Height  5'7
Build  Athletic; soft classic body type
Hair  Black
Eyes  Light Blue

Long black hair, the color of the darkest night, without the Mother in sight. Icy blue eyes that suit her personality, as if she were born in Lapvona instead of having distant blood from the tundra. Pale skin that burns easily under the sun and constantly needs aloe vera and goat milk salves to heal. Rinrose has a soft, classic body type, but through years of training since she was young, she has developed an athletic build. She is proud of her beauty, taking care to maintain her hair and skin. The few who are bold enough to tease her say her full-body armor is there to protect her looks more than her body's well-being. Rinrose would argue the redundancy of the jest; after all, a well-maintained body contributes to her looks.

Skills

Swordmanship: Rinrose has studied the sword since she was young. It has been her sole focus, so while she may be proficient in other things, such as bow and arrow or throwing axes, her true passion and skill lie with swinging her blade. She does not resort to brute force; instead, she maintains a calm demeanor and employs skilled footwork and coordination to defeat her foes. She has mastered the art of countering others' counters, and every fight is a game of chess, at least in controlled settings. Rinrose is also known for her deceptive fighting style, which is both brutal and shocking, utilizing others and the environment to win at any cost.

Horse Riding: Good on a horse, can use a sword while riding one of the noble beasts. Horses also seem to have an easier time trusting her.

Literacy: Able to read and write, known for her calligraphy. Her handwriting is so sought after that she makes extra money by writing love letters for men with atrocious handwriting. While she might not be able to write poetry about lovers beneath the moonlight, she does keep a diary to keep track of her growth.
