About Silk
She became an orphan at a very young age. However, the circumstances surrounding this are not so clear. Whether her parents died or were simply unable to care for her, she does not know and no one has been able to tell her anything about her parents either. But how can you ask around when you don't know who they was? So Silk has never tried to find out anything about her biological parents either.

Luckily, she was found by a gang of street urchins called The Scabies. They took care of her, calling her Crawler or Little Sister until she was old enough to go out with them to beg for food or steal. More rarely than often, The Scabies were hired as spies in the city. No one knows the city's streets, back alleys, and secret meeting places as they do.

For the longest time she was nameless, only called Girl. Until she was adopted by Vendik Nine Lives and he named her Silk. The first part of her life was spent on surviving the day, and the kind of skills you develop like that become almost instinctive. You could say it was Fate that wanted her to become a thief, because honestly, could she have become anything else?

Vendik Nine Lives didn’t just take Silk in, he made her feel chosen and special. Like she was something more than the gutter rat she’d been. He shielded her from the fists of bullies, fed her when she had nothing, and in return, she owed him everything. Just like a real father. Over time, Silk would become dependent on Vendik. He played the part of a father well enough, better than most.. but in the end, protection always comes at a price.

Her adoptive father taught her skills such as lockpicking, sneaking, and basic combat techniques. As she grew older and more skilled, the aid from her "father" no longer came unconditionally. She learned that a favor is returned with a favor (... and that its best not to owe someone a favor). To test Silk's loyalty and skills she was given assignments, mostly minor thefts within the city or spying. The older she got, the more dangerous and difficult the assignments became.

Soon enough she understood that her father hadn’t raised her, he had forged her. Not into a soldier for the Empire’s war machine.. but into a tool for the games of the powerful. He had turned her into a whisper. Slipping past guards to steal secrets, planting false evidence to ruin lives. A blade when needed, a ghost when not.

Appearance

Height  TBA
Build  Slim
Hair  Ashy black/grey "ratish"
Eyes  Grey

Uninteresting. She is just a moving part of the background, where there are other more colorful, beautiful and powerful figures. She has that type of appearance that has nothing that stands out. She is neither strikingly beautiful nor repulsive. Most people have difficulty remembering her features and would have great trouble describing Silk them if they had to. A thief’s greatest gift is not skill with a sneaky blade or nimble fingers, it’s being forgettable. A face lost in the crowd, a presence that fades the moment it enters the room.

Personality

Her father had told her to be like a silkworm: incredibly dull and unthreatening at first glance, but her gifts could make anyone rich. Like most rogues, she's fickle, faithless and brutal. She has a dark sense of humor and a pragmatic approach. As we all know opportunity makes the thief.

Skills

Sleight of Hand
Silk is a good lockpicker and skilled thief, she can bypass even the most intricate locks, disarm traps and pickpocket with ease.

Acrobatics
She has developed an enhanced agility and balance. She can perform complex stunts and maneuvers, scale buildings, and evade attacks, making her incredibly difficult to hit in combat.

Ambidextrous
She is double-handed. Which means Silk fights just as well with the sword in her left hand as in her right. It is not unusual she dual wield a short sword with a dagger.

Stealth
She has mastered the art of being unseen, move unheard, and forgotten. A shadow among shadows.

Disguise
Her plain and unremarkable appearance makes it easy for her to slip into any role. One day a chambermaid, the next an acolyte in a temple..

But she is not without flaw. Her physical strength and endurance are lower compared to trained fighters and warriors. Many of her abilities are compromised when she can't rely on darkness and stealth. She might have learned how to survive in urban landscapes. But out in the real wilderness, she is clueless. Silk do not know tracking, nor to hunt and forage for supplies or food in nature...
