Sometimes referred to as Skinners or Weeping Maidens, Skinner Spiders are commonly found over the land of Khurun. These giant spiders that have evolved over time into using stealth and trickery into catching their prey, choosing to play upon the kindness in people's hearts. Often sounding like an injured child or woman with it's weaping sounds, the spider lures unsuspecting good Samaritans to a gruesome and painful death. Often building nests in abandoned buildings and ruins, if caught by a skinner the best chance at survival is to try and run as the creatures are slow and prefer not to have to chase for their prey. If escape is impossible, the skinner's nests are often too far away form civilization for anyone to hear the screams.

Biology

Skinners are found exclusively in the wild. They do not like largely populated areas, preferring to live in secluded areas where it's easier to trick their prey. They are highly aggressive in the wild, though they will not chase their prey down. They prefer to lure it into a trap, often by mimicking the sound of weeping. It is in this way one stands the best chance of getting away from a skinner. The creatures hunt a majority of the time next to their own nests rather than out in the open, but should food be scarce within their chosen home they will lay traps using their webbing in nearby areas.

Skinner Spiders can not be domesticated. The few rumors of attempted domestication have always ended in a horrible death for the would-be animal trainer. The last time a someone attempted to domesticate a Skinner, the domesticator had harvested a Skinner nest. The thought was that if the training was started at birth, then perhaps it would be easier. The man's body was found dead and drained with the Skinner spiderlings no were to be found.

The creatures natural habits are ruined and abandoned buildings. It's favorite habitat tends to be those that are dank, cold, and wet.

The favored prey of a Skinner are those of sentient creatures. They're often easier for them to catch thanks to how they attract their prey. The most common way in which they attract pray is to pretend to be injured. Their coloring and the noises that they can make resemble that of an injured human, often that of a female dressed in a white bloodied gown. Once the prey is close enough they will attack. When there is no readily available human prey, the Skinners can create traps using their web much like that of the normal spiders of Khurun. However, this is often difficult thanks to their size, which is why they try and get human prey as much as possible. It's much easier to catch prey that will willingly come up to them.

To eat their prey, they first skin the person or creature using the sharp claws on the front four legs which is where they get their name. With the skin removed they are easily able to drink the blood that is a majority of their nutrition. Their fangs are much too small to be able to pierce the skins of many of their prey.

Skinners have a life span of two to three years. They tend to lay their eggs in the darkest most well protected corners of the building they inhabit, often in basements. The father will drag down food to the location of the nest. Wrapping it up, unconscious, but not dead in webbing before moving on to a new location. When born the spiderlings' first meal will be what ever it is that the father has found. Often times it could be a large animal like a deer, sometimes it's of a more human nature. Typical nests are between five to ten spiderlings thanks to the creatures larger size when they are born.

The spiders size range from the size of a small to medium humanoid and can weigh up to one hundred and fifty pounds.

Skinners are aggressive from the moment they are born to the moment of death. The children will consume the first living thing that they see and without anything around, they'll consume each other until only one remains.
