There is something to be said for the advances the Orkin have made since the beginning of The Fifth Age. With every passing year, the once brutish and bloodthirsty race adopts more and more of the culture and civility of many species around them. With the aid of the Shroud, it is no longer uncommon to witness an Orkin become every bit as respected and scholarly as their human and elven foils.

Evidently, that message was never delivered to Tolu Loa'Tasi.

Born the only son of a Chief of a nomadic clan of Orkin known as the Tribe Uraga, Loa'Tasi inherited every ounce of ambition from his elder. Growing up, he would initiate fights with the other children, all eager to score a show of dominance over a member of the Chief's bloodline. Few, if any, of these battles ended in any way other than Tolu's victory, although clan infighting was forbidden, and the lectures and beatings he received as punishment came often.

As an adolescent, Tolu took an interest in smithing. Using crude and rudimentary tools to craft makeshift weapons was a good distraction from his desire to fight, his participation in the few raids and battles the clan partook in forbidden by his Father, with promises that his day would come, when the time was right. Eventually, he earned the official title of Tribe Uraga's smith, and all of the clan's weapons came from his fires. It was the first victory he'd felt since childhood, and a rush he would become immediately hooked on.

However, in just a few years time, the demands for weapons stopped coming to him. The tribe's encampment grew more and more empty, and rumors of a plan to settle into a major city travelled in mutters against those who remained; Too many of their tribe had left for a more nuanced and modern lifestyle, stories of how the Orkin had integrated into society luring those weak-willed and cowardly to try their hand at becoming a somebody in the world beyond the tribe.

Loa'Tasi could do nothing but look on as his family, his own father, succumbed to the softening of the Orkin. The domestication of their race. All his life, he'd dreamed of warm blood on his skin, the sound of his mace crushing the skulls of those who opposed him, and that rush of victory he craved so badly. Now, they aimed to disband? To settle down and find places with the humies and sharp ears? To pretend they were the same?

Tolu resolved to do what his father could not.

He challenged his Father to a battle-- A fight to the death for control of the Uraga.

Not much is said of the fight itself, save that it ended with the elder Loa'Tasi's head raised high above Tolu's, the symbol of Uraga torn from his father's coat and fashioned into a belt he wore around his waist like a trophy. To all who remained, he declared himself War Chief of Uraga, and that under his control the Tribe would become a collective of True Orkin; Those who did not shy away from their violent desires, who did not fear the admission of what they truly were: Orcs, bred for battle and blood.

In the following years, the name of Tribe Uraga was abandoned, and the group now known simply as the Uragan Orcs have gained size and traction as more disillusioned and malcontent Orkin have rallied behind Tolu's cause. With the civilized world he loathes so deeply spreading ever wider with each passing day, it seems only a matter of time before Loa'Tasi will once more do battle with the world around him.

And this time, it will be far more direct.

Appearance

Height  7'4
Build  Muscular
Hair  Black
Eyes  Green

Tolu is imposing, even for an Orkin. Standing at over seven feet tall with muscles seemingly solid enough to break rocks on, it's little wonder he's been able to command the respect and loyalty of so many of his like-minded brethren. Loa'Tasi harkens to a different era; a time when Orkins embraced their savagery and brutishness, instead of running from it.

With long black hair braided down to his chest and an almost permanent scowl on his scarred face, Tolu embraces his self-appointed title as "War Chief". The coat he wears is said to be made from the skin of Beastkin, Humans, elves, and other Orkin that have run afoul of him, while the inside is lined with the finest of rabbit's fur, peeled by his own hand.

Tolu's most prized possession is his belt, ripped from the waist of his father after his death at the end of Loa'Tasi's axe. The emblem of what was once his clan is proudly displayed in silver on it's face, though the name of that clan has been reappropriated for Tolu's barbaric crusade.

Personality

To call Tolu a savage would perhaps be too complimentary. The Orkin War Chief's entire existence revolves around the idea of might equaling right, and morality does not play any role in what he or those who follow him will do to attain such might. On a constant hunt for greater power, Tolu takes pleasure in the suffering of those who lie in his wake, and pride in the blood he has spilled. Combat is but sport, and to weep for the loser is to detract from his victory.

Even so, Loa'Tasi is not an Orkin devoid of any and all honor and reason. His barbaric rampage is not a product of evil or malice, but a firm belief in his own heritage and the values of the Orkin of old. Tolu holds himself to a very strict code; The War Chief will not combat a defenseless or unprepared foe, will not slay children, and mothers, as well as the elderly are given the opportunity to flee before he attacks them.

Skills

Tolu is a behemoth of a creature, with physical strength unmatched by most anything else on two legs. The orkin did not achieve his status through pure brawn alone, however; Loa'Tasi has the mind of a strategist and tactician, gifted in crafting and executing plans that supplement his brute force.

Before becoming Warchief, Tolu was his tribe's smith and craftsman. All of the Uragan weapons are made by Loa'Tasi himself, and each is built specifically for the warrior who wields it. This personal touch with his followers is only one example of what is likely Tolu's greatest strength of all: Leadership. The Warchief has formed an unbreakable trust with the likeminded Orkin who follow him. They obey his commands to the letter, and would give their lives for him without question.

Quite the orator for a being of such brutality, Tolu has a way of talking others into seeing his perspective, even if that perspective ends in them becoming a smear on his mace.
