"One." is what Xana would say.

But, as Hama would quickly learn, it wouldn't be enough. Because once the roti had reached her mouth, she devoured it almost as quickly as it was given to her. The server of the bread's smile curls into one corner, probably not seeing someone as ravenous before. A few more are laid down on the plate. Xana decided to try reaching for the ladle. But her small frame and now-shaky demeanor made it a little difficult. So they helped her get some stew before moving away.

There was no grace in her movements. The food quickly evaporated in a swift movement, small spatters and crumbs falling recklessly to the table. No manners. No 'proper' eating. No small bites. Just what happens when a very hungry dog is finally given something decent after so long.

Despite the vicious nature of her eating, there was- daresay, a bit of gratitude between bites, small fanged smiles. When the meal is finished, she falls quiet, her shoulders a little more relaxed, her ears still alert, but her eyes glanced around a room a little.. softer.

Just a little.

"... it was good."

More awkward silence.

".. Thanks."

More awkward silence. Probably a hard stare at Amansi.

"... so- why did you bring me here? Instead of just arresting me? I was literally a sitting duck."

Amanisi's brow quirked at the question. Eyes narrowed and lips screwed tight as he measured the black eared girl. After seeing such-

He remembered something. Huffed a breath from flared nose, and closed his eyes once more as he sat straighter there upon the ground. A bowl of lentils in one hand still, the half torn roti pinched between fingers. Folded. He scooped up some of the lentils in their gravy. Stuffed it into his mouth, and chewed it down like it owed him money.

Hama laughed.
"Is it a crime to be found stuck in the sand?"

Amansi choked on words that never came to be. Another huff of breath, and another tear of bread that was followed by wrathful mastication.

"I am glad you enjoyed the meal," came a voice as gentle as morning dew.

Amansi almost actually choked this time. Breath rough and sputtered between chews. A hand quick up to cover any hint of unsightliness.

Hama laughed the louder. "Lewa, please let the day's cooks know, the meal was most appreciated,"

Lewa came to set cups before the party. Wood for water, stoneware for tea. "You can tell them yourself, Hama," her eyes set unto Xana. Smile soft and full of acceptance. "You are welcome to as much food as you'd like, any time you are here,"

A fist pounded on broad chest, and Amansi managed to pass down the bight that had nearly thwarted him. Coughed. Rasped. Settled himself back to the image of serenity he seemed so set on portraying.

Lewa couldn't help but laugh with a shake of her head. "Are you being a nuisance, Amansi?"

"What?"
his eyes popped open, wide as the moons. Shook his head, "How could I?"

Lewa's eyes fell to Xana, a brow raised and lips quirked. Is he?

Hama laughed the more. Wheezy and full of wiles.

A youth came and filled the cups of water. Hurried away to help others sat upon the floor in their own little groups. Hama drank from his cup. The water cool and fresh against his lips.
