Born to family unknown to her, Yaen was abandoned for the wolves to eat and picked up and raised by a human couple in the Aetochi mountain range. Raised in a wooden cabin with her parents Tsuri and Shiro Yukimiya, Yaen lived a happy life as an only child of the couple and was taught to hunt, collect herbs, wood and basic survival techniques of the forest. Her mother Tsuri, was a healer who wandered the mountains in search of rare herbs to trade and her Father Shiro a hunter who would hunt game and deliver it to the city. Life was simple for her, until she found her shamanic abilities.
For a long time Yaen spent time living a free life in the wide open world, maintining soft commune with the Rakagui spirits of the squirrel "Risu" and the butterfly "Uri." Then one day everything changed. Shiro found Yaen speaking softly into thin air and doing a small ritual for the safe journey of the spirit of her kill into the next life. For a while he watched her. Day to day Yaen would do hunts, heal the cuts of the tiny wildlife and spoke in chitters that enabled the animals to respond to her. Shocked by the boon bestowed upon his daughter by their presence, Shiro informed his wife and sent word to the capital of Yaen's affinity with the spirits.
Up in arms, the Yukimiya family celebrated her power and informed Yaen that she was to be sent to the city to train in Sonshan as a shaman. Uncertain of life outside of living in the mountains, Yaen was ultimately reluctant to leave the sanctity of the mountain she had been raised in. However, the herald of Sonshan would not remain unanswered and a new life began for Yaen.
Delivered unto the city of Sonshan, Yaen's desire to remain quickly became diminished by wonder for the city. "Embrace life," the soft whisper of Uri's voice rang through her mind as the cascades of bright colour charmed her vision. Excited for the journeys ahead, Yaen's reticence was replaced with joy. Invited to join the Mist clan, Yaen has started her new life learning healing skills and discovery of the weave.

Personality
Messenger of Life & Death: Neither kind nor remorseless, Yaen believes her duty in life is to be a messenger in this world between life and death. She does not mourn the dead, but wishes them well on her journey. Undeath is an abomination that should be wiped from the world, it disrupts the circle of life and death. If somebody dies under Yaen's charge she does not take it as a failure, nor a thing to mourn for their journey continues and they were a part of assisting in hers.
Death: Death is a door to the continuation of the cycle of life and death. None should defy it.
Life: Is beautiful, many have journeys and things they wish to learn in their lifetimes. Value the time you have in this one, the lessons that are learned and the people that you may meet.
Presence: The past is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift. Action, now. The past is gone, it doesn't matter unless it provides information we can use to continue. Yaen struggles to relate to people struggling over the loss of a loved one, or the tragedies of their past. She considers these to be a part of the individual's journey and can be poor to offer advice.
Bold: Fear of those who deem themselves "higher" than her is non-existent to her; albeit respect is not lost on her. She also has a propensity for actions that others are usually too afraid to take. Death does not scare her, though she holds respect for it.
Inquisitive: Yaen maintains a very inquisitive nature that can make her statements sometimes uncomfortable for others in spite of her pure intention.
